The passage of the Affordable Care Act brought health care to millions of Americans. Indiana has set up its own system for providing insurance to be available to everyone. This includes coverage for pre-existing conditions and other coverage requirements. HIP 2.0 continues to be a viable program and should be expanded. We must keep moving forward.

The opioid crisis has also been building for a long time. I have been calling for addiction problems to be treated not by criminalizing and jailing people, but by treating addiction as a public health issue. Indiana has moved forward, directing resources to recovery. There are a number of innovative ideas proposed by various local communities that seem to be working. We should continue this path, and implement some of these creative solutions on a broader scale.
